ABOUT INDIAN CULTURE
Traditional Indian weddings are generally structured into pre-wedding ceremonies, wedding day ceremonies (consisting of the Baraat, the Varmala and the Satphere), and the Vidaai. When the marriage has been agreed upon, the father of the bridegroom visits the father of the bride. The day before the expected arrival of the marriage procession,[4] lavish preparations are done by the family to receive the groom (shaadi ki tayaari) in beautiful and decorated venues, typically farmhouses or hotel halls, where a sacrificial fireplace called marhwa is built. Brides decorate themselves with gold and diamond jewellery, apply [mehndi] to colour hands and feet, and undergo various bridal rituals, including wearing bridal lehenga or saree. Bridegrooms typically wear a [sherwani] dress or a designer suit. To complete the marriage, the bride and groom walk in a circle (phera) around the sacrificial fire.
Wearing heavy shimmering lehengas or saris in typical maroon or red shades for a summer-monsoon wedding is passe. An up-to-the-minute fashion statement is comfortable innovative bridal outfits made with nets, chiffons or chanderi silks in soothing shades like turquoise, green and rani pink. While deciding on fabrics for sultry and sweaty weather conditions, designers focus on fabrics that breathe; nets, chiffons and chanderi silks fall in this category. Embellishments and embroidery too have got makeovers with sharper focus on intricate threadwork, beadwork, lace and patchwork.

Indian marriages are known for their many rituals. In fact, the beauty of Indian weddings comes forth

in the numerous traditions that are associated with the special celebration.

Marriages being the most important day in one's life, mehndi has become an ornament

for the soon to be brides. Infact one whole ceremony dedicated to its celebration

popularly known as "Mehndi Ki Raat".Indian marriages are incomplete without dance,

    music and lots of laughter.

It is a common belief that the darker the color the mehndi leaves on the hands on a

bride, the more will she be loved by her husband and mother-in-law. However, the

significance of applying mehndi during weddings is not restricted just to sentiments

and beliefs. Although these beliefs make the application of mehndi a much anticipated and
